Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Education Doorway FAQ

In 2021, Oxford Royale found that Dundee offered the lowest cost of living for college students. The Citylets Rental Report Q1, 2022 found that private rental prices in Dundee were on average 40% cheaper than in Edinburgh and 20% cheaper than the average for all of Scotland. The annual estimated cost of living for students is between £7,000 and £8,000.

Yes, students who are unable to physically attend classes at the university can still participate in academic programs through the use of distance learning. There are over 5,000 students from over 100 different countries enrolled in online courses. All students have free access to the university’s digital academic library.

Students from outside the EU/EEA who want to enroll in a course in the UK for longer than six months will typically need a Student visa. Once a student has received the CAS, only then can he or she apply for the same. A valid license as a “student sponsor” is also held by the university. By doing so, it can provide sponsorship for students who qualify for a Student visa.

A student in this situation should get in touch with the school and go over his or her choices with an advisor. The student can reapply for the same CAS if the university is willing to issue more than one.

In most cases, your application will be denied if you provide insufficient or incorrect financial documentation. If this happens, you won’t get your new CAS number until you submit your updated financial paperwork to the appropriate authorities. A credibility interview is another potential cause for rejection. Students who are denied visas can submit an appeal to their university by sending a copy of their interview transcript.

All of the classes are taught in English at the university. If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate that you can communicate effectively in English. To demonstrate that they have the necessary language skills, students can:

Acceptable to the university’s exemption standards

Participating in a recognized test of competency

Providing a recognized English language proficiency certificate from abroad

Successfully completing the university’s Pre-Sessional English requirement

Each semester, the university provides free classes in academic English writing, speaking, and grammar. Students can take one, two, or all three of these courses to advance their knowledge and abilities. Classes will last for 1 or 2 hours, and students who attend 8 or more will receive a certificate attesting to their mastery of the relevant competence.

You shouldn’t stress if your grades aren’t high enough to enroll in the desired course. The university may have a solution for you in this case. You can improve both your subject expertise and English proficiency by pursuing a degree that is internationally recognized.

Students from India, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka are eligible for the university’s “Vice Chancellor’s South Asia scholarship.” The award amount is £5,000 per academic year ($15,000 for a 3-year degree, £20,000 for a 4-year degree, and £25,000 for a 5-year degree). Students can learn more about the university’s other scholarship opportunities on the institutional website.

Bachelor’s degree with 55% or higher from Delhi University, University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, IITs, or IIMs.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a grade of 60 percent or higher (equivalent to an upper second class Honours in the UK) or Bachelor’s degree from any university with a grade of 50 percent or higher (comparable to a UK lower second-class Honours).

The only time you can request accommodations is after you’ve accepted your conditional or unconditional offer letter. If you apply by the due date, the university will guarantee you one of the university-arranged housing options for your first year.
