Coventry University

Founded in 1843, the Coventry College of Design served as the forerunner for Coventry University. After amalgamating with Lanchester College of Technology and Rugby College of Engineering Technology, it was renamed Coventry College of Art. In 1992, Coventry University was established by merging Lanchester Polytechnic and Coventry Polytechnic. As a symbol of Coventry’s rebuilding after the Second World War, the University’s logo is a Phoenix, a mythical bird.

In addition to access to global opportunities, Coventry’s worldwide network of collaborators in academia and industry ensures that its 50,000 learners in different countries have the best possible job prospects. Internationally, the university excels in areas such as health, peacebuilding, agroecology, and engineering and design, particularly in the automotive industry.

A wide range of business, finance, fashion, hospitality, and marketing courses are available at Coventry University London, from top-up BAs to MBAs. Additionally to studying for a degree, students can also participate in an internship or placement that bears credit so they can graduate as an industry professional and a student.

Based on the Guardian University Guide 2021, Coventry University is ranked as one of the best modern universities for career prospects. The London-based courses include a credit-bearing internship or placement so that students can graduate both as students and industry professionals.


You will be able to work up to 20 hours per week during term-time and full-time during your vacation period if you have obtained entry clearance before arriving in the UK. As an international student, your visa stamp will include the phrase ‘work (and any changes) must be authorised’.
Additionally, you will be paid on a project-by-project basis to work with schools, faculties, and departments on open days. Recruiting notices for student ambassadors can be found around campus, in your school/faculty, and on the student portal. Student ambassadorships are also excellent CV-builders.

Coventry University charges tuition fees according to the course applied for. International students pay fees based on the modules they are enrolled in. Lower fees are associated with courses with fewer modules. There will be a tuition fee of GBP 15,000 to GBP 20,000 per year for international students starting in September 2022

The University of Coventry offers several scholarships to international students. These scholarships are mainly awarded to students who have excelled academically and can differ from intake to intake. Scholarships can be divided into three broad categories:

  • Coventry University offers international students who are taking pre-masters courses the International Pathways Scholarship.  International students receive GBP 3,000 in financial aid for tuition fees, living expenses, and accommodation. 
  • International students from certain countries are eligible to apply for the Undergraduate Territory Award September 2022. Each successful applicant enrolled at Coventry University in September 2022 will receive GBP 1,500 as part of this award. 
  • In September 2022, some specific countries will be eligible to apply for the Postgraduate Territory Award.   

Graduates of Coventry University can take advantage of alumni discounts in addition to scholarships. The Coventry University Group offers a 20% discount to international students who graduate from its undergraduate degree program and apply to pursue a full-time or part-time postgraduate taught course in their postgraduate programme. Scholarships can be combined with this discount to a maximum value of GBP 2,000.

Requirements in English

Applicants must also show eligibility in English language by obtaining a Grade 12 English language score of 60 percent, or an IELTS Academic score of 6 or higher, with a component score of no lower than 5.5, from certain examination boards. In addition, Coventry University English Test and PTE Academic are also available.

Academic Requirements for taking a top-up course

The percentage of completion of a two-year or three-year full-time university degree is at least 60 percent, or the percentage of completion of a three-year full-time university degree is at least 55 percent.

Academic Requirements for Graduate Course 

The requirements for a postgraduate degree are 60 percent in a three-year undergraduate degree and 55 percent in a four-year undergraduate degree.
