Overview

The University of Strathclyde is an internationally renowned technological university. The University was founded in 1796 as a place of ‘useful learning’ and remains committed to research, teaching and employability. They offer an award-winning Careers service, industrial placements for students, and a £89m Technology & Innovation Centre, opened by The Queen in 2015. In the fields of energy, health, sustainable cities, and manufacturing, this facility is transforming the way that academics, industry, and government work together in partnership.

According to the Times Higher Education’s analysis of REF2014, they rank among the top 20 universities in the UK for research intensity. As one of Scotland’s largest and most well equipped engineering faculties, Strathclyde is accredited by AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS. 

Students from over 100 countries attend the University, and a decade of investment will add £650m to the campus. Glasgow is one of the most dynamic and largest cities in the UK, and Strathclyde’s campus lies right in the heart of the city. It is a great place to explore Scotland, the UK and Europe from. Services for International Students

The International Student Support Team assists all international students with immigration and personal issues. They provide information and referrals to other support services. New international students are also welcomed with arrival and welcome activities during the main arrival periods

Students can meet each other in a relaxed atmosphere during the academic year at the International Student Club. A variety of social events are planned, including day and weekend excursions, international food dinners, theatre tickets, and music concerts. Additionally, weekly international meetings are a great opportunity for students to meet and make valuable contacts.Students can also receive up to four hours per week of free English language tutoring and support during pre-sessional and in-sessional English courses. They  can also help with visas, employment, and housing issues.

Strathclyde’s research rated 57% ‘outstanding’ in the REF 2021, with 93.2% rated as ‘outstanding’ or ‘very considerable’, compared to 87.2% for the sector as a whole.

The campus village houses almost 1,500 students, and 400 more live in university accommodations nearby. All international first-year undergraduate students are guaranteed accommodation in University halls which are arranged into flats with shared kitchens. After the first year, students who wish to move off campus can use a web service to connect with landlords. Additionally, postgraduate students have access to on-campus housing.

They are located right in the heart of Glasgow. National Geographic named Glasgow one of its ‘Best of the World’ destinations, and Rough Guide readers named Glasgow the friendliest city in the world! Time Out has just ranked Glasgow among the top ten world’s best cities, and they couldn’t agree more.As well as being in the city center, they’re close to the Merchant City, allowing you to do some sightseeing, shopping, and socializing while you’re here.

New beginnings herald the arrival of exciting transformations on campus at the start of each new academic year. The Learning and Teaching facility offers state-of-the-art accommodations for learning, studying, and having fun in a range of environments. Inside, you’ll find a large variety of brand-new dining and drinking establishments, as well as some of the most modern amenities that Strathclyde has to offer.

The Strathclyde Career Services are here to assist you from the moment you arrive until you graduate. If you are seeking a job or want to pursue postgraduate study, you can take advantage of their employment and postgraduate study services. They have great connections with industry and work with a variety of employers. Employers are invited on campus to speak with students. Students receive one-to-one advice as well as practice interviews. A variety of events, including career fairs and the Scottish Graduate Fair, are also offered by Strathclyde, including a drop-in service.

Scholarship

Strathclyde University offers several scholarships to applicants for postgraduate taught programmes joining in academic year 2022/23.Scholarships are equivalent to a 20% reduction in tuition fees if you’re applying for a postgraduate taught degree program, which will typically cost £3,750 to £3,000 in tuition fees.

Additionally, they offer Dean’s International Excellence Awards for postgraduate taught applicants. The scholarships will be awarded to exceptional applicants at the postgraduate taught level and will be worth £4,000 – £5,000 each. All levels of postgraduate taught scholarships will be considered with only one application.
